Marie Gilmore was originally appointed to the Alameda Recreation Commission (1992-1994), and subsequently to the Alameda Planning Board (Member 1994-2001, Board President 2001-2003). She was appointed to the City Council in 2003 when a vacancy came open and was elected in her own right in 2004.
